Il Monte is a former medieval watchtower, retaining many of its original features, including a very rare barrel-vaulted ceiling in the tower and a now ornamental former traditional bread oven. This previously derelict building underwent a huge sympathetic renovation to offer an amazing and unique family home. Enter the wrought iron gates where our dragons stand guard and you're in your own piece of Umbria, there's ample secure parking in the grounds. Enter the house through the welcoming double doors into the naturally cool climate of this traditional stone building; the natural stone, terracotta floors, chunky chestnut beams and a rare barrel-vaulted stone ceiling will greet you. The renovation of this amazing home was carried out over an 18-year period with no expense spared to achieve the impressive finish of this spacious home, geared up for family life. Over the past six years we’ve further upgraded the interior, furnishings, pool and patios to achieve a very stylish and comfortable holiday home.

Il Monte is such a relaxing and special place. So quiet and peaceful. Really enjoy spending time with the animals. The hosts are wonderful and warm people. The scenery and landscape are breathtaking. The cottages are simple but very clean. Francesca is a very patient guide with the horses. Lots of lovely villages nearby and no shortage of restaurants. Terrain is quite steep and rough. Great for couples or families. The swimming pool is large with lots of chairs and loungers (although not heated. Can't wait to return and would recommend.
We absolutely loved our stay! We will most definitely be back to stay! The bunkhouse (at Caledonian Cabins) was just perfect and surpassed our expectations. It was cosy, exceptionally clean, high quality lined with THE comfiest and cosiest beds. Our kids loved it, we loved it! The kitchen had plenty utensils and supplies. We used the bbq no issue. Using the hot tub was also very straightforward and we especially enjoyed it's location down by the river. It was private and just a great little area for us to sit. We found the area very quiet and no issue with the 2 neighbouring cabins. It really was a delightful stay!!
